神奈川県小田原で江戸より続くかまぼこ屋の鈴廣に生まれる。慶應大学環境情報学部卒業後、電通にて営業・マーケティングに従事。作家の森川章二氏に師事し古典的な日本の染色技法”型染め”を習得。図案・型彫から染色まで全工程を制作する。型染めを軸に、包装紙・テキスタイル・企業へのデザイン提供やブランドディレクションなど、日本のしきたりや美意識を大切に、伝統的な和の意匠に現代的な解釈を加えデザインする。
Born in Odawara, Kanagawa Pref., to a family of Japanese traditional food shop. After graduating from Keio Univ. (Environmental Information), worked as a marketing planner for Dentsu, advertisement agents, I Learned a Japanese classic stencil dyeing, “Katazome,” and started to create my artwork to offer designs, textiles, and brand directions to companies. While embracing Japanese customs and aesthetic senses , I have added modern views to Japanese traditional design styles to cultivate a new field of design.

About “Katazome”
「型染め」は日本の伝統的な染色技法の一つ。和紙に図案を彫った「型紙」に、もち米の「糊」を置き、防染をして文様を染め出す技法です。刀で細かな図案を彫った型紙と防染糊から生まれる染めのコントラストで図柄を描き、おおらかで優しい線のゆらぎが特徴です。型染めの原型は奈良時代の正倉院の御物に見られ、紅型、江戸小紋、伊勢型紙など着物を中心に愛されてきました。図案、型紙彫りから染めまでやり直しのきかない技術的な幾つもの工程を要し、味わいのある一つの作品が出来上がります。
Katazome is a Japanese traditional dyeing to carve a pattern on washi onto which glutinous rice glue is spread as a dye-preventer and to dye the pattern. A delicate knife-carved pattern and a contrast of dyeing with dye-prevention-glue produce a design with dynamic and gentle lines. Its origin was found in imperial treasures of Nara period. It has been cherished mainly in kimono art. From designing and mold-carving to dyeing, getting through unretouchable technical processes, a piece of artwork, of profound taste, is created.
